Let me ask you something:
Where would you go if visas weren’t so complicated?
Not just to escape but to rebuild.
To give your family more freedom, not less.
To raise your kids in a system that isn’t broken.
To save for the future and enjoy your life right now.
This summer has reminded me how easy it is to forget what’s possible.
Between London, Miami, and Toronto, I’ve had front-row seats to the contrast between comfort, chaos, and calm.
In Miami, we stayed close to family but didn’t really do much.
Not because we didn’t want to.
But we couldn’t fully relax.
Because you just never know.
One incident behind the wheel, another driver slamming on her brakes in front of me at a green light with my girls in the car, was enough to remind me that safety, especially in America, often feels like a privilege, not a guarantee.
Toronto gave me a glimpse of something better.
Culture. Community. A pace that felt grounded.
It reminded me that our kids deserve to live in spaces where they can play, not just survive.
And we, as parents, deserve to work in ways that support our lives, not consume them.
That’s what we’ve found in Doha.
Not perfection. But peace.
A place where we’re not overworked, overextended, or constantly on edge.
We’re saving and living. Working and breathing.
So today, I want to ask you:
Where would you go if you could choose a life where your work supported your family, not ran it?
What would that version of freedom look like?
Because whether it’s Mexico, Spain, Portugal, Ghana, or the UAE—there are options.
And more importantly, you’re allowed to want more.
Let’s dream out loud a little this week.
Hit reply or drop a comment:
Where would you go if the paperwork weren’t in the way?
And what kind of life would you build when you got there?
With love,
Sonaya
