Are You Stuck Playing Assistant in Your Own Business?
Here’s How to Take the Leap.
I know the journey of starting and growing a business can feel like a rollercoaster. You’ve got big dreams, the drive to succeed, and a burning desire to build something that’s yours. But somewhere along the way, you might have found yourself stuck in the weeds, doing tasks that aren’t moving the needle—tasks that make you feel more like an assistant than a CEO. I’ve been there, too.
When I first started my business, I thought I had to do it all. After all, who else could do it like me, right? But here’s what I learned the hard way: doing everything myself didn’t get me any closer to my goals. In fact, it was holding me back.
So, let me ask you: Are you spending your valuable time on these tasks?
• Writing and sending newsletters
• Processing client payments and invoices
• Building web pages and posting blogs
• Scheduling and rescheduling client meetings
• Following up on contracts
If you’re handling all of these, I get it—because I used to, too. But here’s the thing: when you’re doing all of this, you’re missing out on the time and energy needed actually to grow your business. You’re stuck in the day-to-day instead of focusing on the big picture.
This was my big wake-up call: I realized I couldn’t be both the assistant and the CEO.
I remember the exact moment I took the leap. I had to trust someone else to handle things I thought only I could do. It was terrifying! My business wasn’t just about me anymore—I had to pay a team and put my faith in them. But something amazing happened once I let go: I had more time to serve my clients at a higher level, take on more business, and, most importantly, focus on the parts of my business that I truly loved.
Instead of being weighed down by the small tasks, I work with my team to innovate, serve my clients better, and grow. I no longer feel like I’m on this journey alone—and trust me, entrepreneurship can sometimes feel very lonely.
But I want you to know: You don’t have to do it alone.
What’s holding you back from taking the leap?
I know how hard it is to let go of control and trust someone else with your baby—your business. But I also know that without that leap, you can’t grow in the way you truly want to. You’re likely spending hours on tasks that someone else could easily do—time you could be using to have powerful conversations, grow your client base, or focus on scaling your business to the next level.
But here’s the truth I want to share with you: building a team isn’t the only path to success.
You see, sometimes the narrative is that if you don’t have a big team or outsource everything, then you’re not “doing it right.” But let’s flip that script. Running a business solo can be a powerful and intentional choice.
When you’re the sole driver of your business, you have lower expenses, full control, and a business that truly fits around your lifestyle. That’s real freedom. Not having a team can allow you to pivot faster, stay lean, and maintain complete creative control over your vision. This isn’t something to look down on—it’s a strategic choice for many entrepreneurs, and it might be what aligns with your personal definition of success.
It’s not about what everyone else is doing. It’s about what works best for you.
I personally love running my business with a small, trusted team because it gives me the balance I need. But that’s what works for me. You have to decide what feels right for you and your business. If being solo fits your goals and your lifestyle, embrace it fully. That’s the beauty of entrepreneurship—you get to define your path and success.
Here’s my challenge for you: Take the leap that’s right for you.
Whether delegating a task, building a small team, or staying solo and focusing on scaling what you love, the key is making intentional choices that align with your vision. Success isn’t a one-size-fits-all formula—it’s personal and multifaceted. You get to write the rules.
Your journey is your own.
You’ve got this, and I’m here to help you every step of the way.
